Like any modern society, many of us read the papers & magazines daily. We take the TV-mobiled buses. We watch TV. We listen to radio. We’re a media-savvy bunch. We’re also the huntered, with advertising companies being our hunters. They hunt for our money. And that’s how the world goes round - production, consumption, exchange. We have no way of really detaching ourselves from the rest of the world, even if we really tried (that is, of course, unless you’re able to take 7 years off to live in Tibet, like Brad Pit…although… I doubt they took 7 years to film that movie…)
Point is, the need for ethical advertising/marketing is more important than ever, as the world becomes more and more connected, as companies grow & become MNCs, and compete for a larger share of the pie of their industry.
This page is dedicated to advertisements (both good & bad) in Singapore magazines & papers. If you’ve got any comments/cool ads, scan them in or email me the name of the magazine, month & page! perfectthewayiam@gmail.com.
Positive Ads (Singapore)
- K lah, not really an ad, but a little quote from Queen Latifah on beauty’s definition – not just for a selected few. (Life!, end Oct 2007)
-
[Not so strangely], I found plenty of examples like this. Slimming ads. Ahh.
Positive Ads elsewhere – commended!
- Covergirl – from am American magazine. It portrays the beautiful Queen Latifah who doesn’t ‘fit’ the usual standards of beauty as a plus sized, Black woman. Kudos to Covergirl for using her as a model for the ad!
- An ad for the girl scouts. How come we don’t have empowering ads like these that remind us to look beyond our looks and aim to fulfill our fullest potential with our passion & talent?
